iNot medical advice. We don’t recommend any dose. Every dose below is a quote from the person named, describing their views or their own use. Oxytocin is an approved prescription medicine for labour and after childbirth, given by injection or infusion under medical supervision. Intranasal use for libido, training or mood is off-label and experimental.

What experts say about dosing

Leg-day protocol (2021)

Dose
“about 500 to 750 iuse”
How taken
“when taking internasal”
When
“about 1 hour before your L day”

“consider taking about 500 to 750 iuse oxytocin internally about 1 hour before your L day. Seems to have about a 2hour half life when taking internasal”

Watch at 2:38Oxytocin Nasal Sprays To Make Leg Day Highly Enjoyable (VigorousSteve) · 28 Sep 2021

Context: Solo video. The captions read “iuse”, “internally” and “L day”; he appears to mean IU, intranasally and leg day. His 2026 figures are far lower (20–100 IU), so this line is flagged for a listen.

Own use: before leg day

Dose
“maybe 20, 40, sometimes 100 IUs”
When
“pre-workouts”

“My leg days became ultra pleasurable, a very positive association with training to failure on particular exercises and far beyond. So, my leg days were legendary after taking maybe 20, 40, sometimes 100 IUs oxytocin pre-workouts.”

Context: His own experience. He does not state the route here; in a 2021 video on the same topic he describes a nasal spray.

Dose and frequency

Dose
“20 IUs, 30 IUs, 50 IUs”
How often
“intermittently”
When
“about an hour before sexual activity”
Also said
“whatever your sweet spot is”

“20 IUs, 30 IUs, 50 IUs, whatever your sweet spot is, is sufficient. You can keep it at that dose, taken about an hour before sexual activity. But if you start to use it every day, you might end up with 200 IUs or 500 IUs, which is an insane dose. You might experience a little bit of flushing as a side effect of very high dosages of oxytocin. So, I'd use oxytocin intermittently.”

Watch at 5:07Oxytocin: The Performance Enhancer Nobody Is Talking About (VigorousClips) · 13 Feb 2026

Context: Just before, he says “the dose highly depends on your tolerance” and that he and clients “noticed that you need to continuously bump up the dose”.

Own experience: libido (2021)

“which unfortunately doesn't seem to be the case for myself and everybody that I've talked to: oxytocin nasal spray seems to be ineffective regarding sexual activity”

Watch at 0:46Oxytocin Nasal Sprays To Make Leg Day Highly Enjoyable (VigorousSteve) · 28 Sep 2021

Context: In 2021 he found no libido effect; in his 2026 clip he says the opposite (that his libido became “problematic” on oxytocin combined with Semax).

What the research used

Context, not a dosing guide. Intranasal oxytocin studies usually used about 24 IU, often once. Results have been mixed, and a large trial in autism found no benefit. These are evidence context, not a guide.

Reviews

  • Leng & Ludwig, 2016, Biol Psychiatry. PubMed 26049207. Critical review: very little intranasal oxytocin appears to reach the brain, and many behavioural findings may not be robust.
What we don’t know yet
  • Most behavioural studies were small, single-dose and not consistently replicated.
  • How much intranasal oxytocin reaches the brain is debated.
  • The doses Vigorous Steve mentions (up to 500–750 IU) are far above study doses (about 24–48 IU).
  • Nasal sprays bought online are unregulated.
Common questions

Is oxytocin a prescription medicine?

Yes, as an injection used in obstetrics. Intranasal use for other purposes is off-label.

Why do Vigorous Steve’s figures differ so much?

His 2021 video says “500 to 750” and his 2026 clip says 20–100 IU. We quote both as captioned and have flagged the 2021 line for a listen.

Does intranasal oxytocin reach the brain?

It is debated. Striepens 2013 found raised CSF levels; Leng & Ludwig 2016 argue very little reaches the brain.

Why does the protocol section only contain quotes?

We do not write our own dose ranges. The protocol cards show, word for word, what named people have publicly said, with their caveats and a link to the source.
