iNot medical advice. We don’t recommend any dose. Every dose below is a quote from the person named, describing their views or their own use. Sermorelin was approved in the US (Geref) for growth-hormone deficiency in children; the product was discontinued in 2008 for commercial reasons. It is not authorised in the EU and is prohibited by WADA.

Typical use

Dose
“anywhere from 200 to 400 micrograms”
How often
“anywhere from three times per week or five times per week”
When
“done at night before sleep”
Also said
“some disadvantages to taking it continuously 7 days per week for long periods of time”

“By the way, the typical dosages of sermorelin that are um taken are anywhere from 200 to 400 micrograms. Typically, that's done at night before sleep for the reasons that we talked about before. And typically, people will take it anywhere from three times per week or five times per week. There are some disadvantages to taking it continuously 7 days per week for long periods of time. There's some desensitization that can occur. Not much, but some can occur.”

Context: Descriptive (“typical dosages … that are taken”), not a recommendation. “The reasons we talked about” refers to growth hormone being released mainly in early sleep.

Own use

Dose
not stated
How often
“anywhere from one to two nights per week”
How long
“on and off for the last couple of years”

“I'll just be completely forthcoming. I've taken sermorelin on and off for the last couple of years. I typically will take it anywhere from one to two nights per week. And I stopped taking it almost completely.”

Context: Own use. He goes on to say he stopped because it made early-night sleep very deep but, according to his sleep trackers, reduced his REM sleep.

Dose
“500 micrograms”
How often
“twice a day, 5 days on two days off”

“so somorin is a ghrh analog right so again it mimics what we do in the brain and the dosing for somorin is 500 micrograms twice a day 5 days on two days off”

A broad range: 200 up to 3,000 mcg

Dose
“200 micrograms up to 3,000 micrograms”

“Then sermorelin has actually a very broad dosing range anywhere from 200 micrograms. I've used it up to 3,000 micrograms-”

Starting range

Dose
“250 to 500 micrograms … up to 1 milligram”
How often
“daily … five days on two days off”
How taken
“subcutaneously”

“Sermorelin, you could start with anywhere between 250 to 500 micrograms daily. I've had guys go up to 1 milligram daily. […] You can inject them together subcutaneously. Now timing I always stick with something very similar just like I mentioned earlier with the five days on two days off approach.”

Context: “Them” is sermorelin with tesamorelin. The cut removes his tesamorelin figure (500 micrograms to 1 milligram daily). Caption spelling of the compound name corrected: “Samorin” → Sermorelin. He says in his videos that he is not a doctor.

Who should be cautious (all GH secretagogues)

“If you're younger than 30, I don't know why you'd want to augment growth hormone unless you and your doctor decide that there's a clinical need or some other urgent need to do so because you're already making a lot of growth hormone. If you're older than 30 and you're interested in using these compounds, to me it stands to reason that of course you want to make sure that you don't have any tumors or cancers that you could potentially exacerbate. But in addition to that, that you really think about using the minimal effective dose and that you use perhaps even the mildest of these different compounds […]”

Typical clinic doses are far below trial doses

“In 2004, a group ran two doses of GHRH head-to-head in middle-ag and older men. 1 milligram twice daily and four milligrams twice daily for 3 months. And only the 4 milligram arm increased fat-free mass. The 1 milligram twice daily arm, which is around 2,000 micrograms a day, did not. Now, go look at what most wellness clinics prescribe. 100 to 300 micrograms once a night. So the standard commercial dose is roughly onetenth of an amount that is already failed in a randomized trial”

What the research used

Context, not a dosing guide. These are the conditions reported in published studies, mostly in children with GH deficiency or small groups of older adults. None establishes a dose for healthy adults.

What we don’t know yet
  • No modern randomised trials in healthy adults.
  • Approved use was in children with diagnosed GH deficiency.
  • Raising growth hormone and IGF-1 is a surrogate marker; long-term outcomes in healthy adults are not established.
  • Growth-hormone/IGF-1 elevation is a theoretical concern for people with existing tumours.
  • Grey-market products are unregulated, so identity, purity and dose accuracy vary.
  • WADA prohibits growth-hormone secretagogues and GHRH analogues for athletes.
Common questions

Was sermorelin ever an approved medicine?

Yes. Geref was FDA-approved in 1997 for idiopathic GH deficiency in children. It was discontinued in 2008 and approvals were withdrawn in 2009; the FDA later stated this was not for safety or effectiveness reasons.

Is sermorelin allowed in sport?

No. GHRH and its analogues are prohibited by WADA.

Why does the protocol section only contain quotes?

We do not write our own dose ranges. The protocol cards show what named people have publicly said.
